Proton Plans to Enter Indian Market
Malaysian Automaker Proton Holdings Bhd had been planning to enter Indian Market for a while. The company previously had talks with Hero Honda, Mahindra & Mahindra but none of these has worked for the company. Currently the company is in talks with Hindustan Motors to assemble its car in HM's Chennai plant. Proton plans to bring in its MPV Exora to the Indian Market as the growth of MPV segment is booming. Top Proton Executive have visited the Chennai plant of HM on several occasions in the past three months. The Company is also interested in Sourcing components for HM subsidiary firm Avtec.
Final decision is likely to be announced on February end. Proton is also planning to bring its other models such as Saga, Persona, Emas Hybrid in India.
