Proton Plans to Enter Indian Market

Malaysian Automaker Proton Holdings Bhd had been planning to enter Indian Market for a while. The company previously had talks with Hero Honda, Mahindra & Mahindra but none of these has worked for the company. Currently the company is in talks with Hindustan Motors to assemble its car in HM's Chennai plant. Proton plans to bring in its MPV Exora to the Indian Market as the growth of MPV segment is booming. Top Proton Executive have visited the Chennai plant of HM on several occasions in the past three months. The Company is also interested in Sourcing components for HM subsidiary firm Avtec. Final decision is likely to be announced on February end. Proton is also planning to bring its other models such as Saga, Persona, Emas Hybrid in India.

Tata Venture launched

Tata Motors launched its multi-purpose Diesel vehicle ''Veture'' in Rajasthan. The vehicle is available in 5,7 and 8 seater option and its under 4 meter length so the car is eligible to be under small cars as per excise duty laws so Tata has aggressively prices the vehicle Ranging  from Rs 4.05 lakhs and 5.07 lakhs(ex-showroom Jaipur). The vehicle will be available all across India as the production and distribution ramps up. The Vehicle is expected to be the safest among the vans with safety features like collapsible steering and side impact beams protect occupants in an exigency and meets all safety norms in the domestic market. It also has some of the comfort and convenience features such as power steering,power windows, keyless entry with immobiliser ,Reverse parking aid. The car is powered is by a 1.4 litre turbo diesel engine which delivers 71ps of power and expected mileage of 15.42 k...

India will be 4th largest car market in world

India will become the forth largest car market in the world in the next three years but will require another huge investment in this industry. The required investment is about USD 20 billion and nine new plants to meet the demand by then, Only US, China and Japan will be ahead of India,According to an global Consultant. Currently the domestic passenger vehicle market is the seventh largest in the world and is likely to grow 15-20 percent every year till 2013.According to SAIM the passenger vehicles stood about 2 million units in 2009 -10 and is expected to reach 2.4 million units in this fiscal year. The automakers will not only have to increase their capacities but also have to strengthen their distribution network  R&D capabilities supplies because the market will be much more competitive than it is now.

Volkswagen sales up 10 times in 2010 from 3,039 to 32,627 when compared to previous year.The company launched its much awaited hatchback polo and the premium mid-size sedan vento. During the 12-month period, the company sold 27,946 units of the Polo and Vento and remaining numbers were in luxury segment which includes jetta,passat. It also expanded its dealerships to 70 from 40.
