Bajaj Unveils 150cc Boxer named as BM150

Bajaj Auto has reportedly introduced the launch of the ‘Boxer' 150cc in the domestic market. The new model has been positioned as the ‘Bharat' bike designed for use on all kinds of terrain. R Chandrasekar, GM – Marketing and Sales, Bajaj Auto Ltd was quoted as saying, “This launch is a part of our strategy of providing relevant differentiated products to meet the needs of a variety of consumers. A significant segment of consumers in the smaller towns need a powerful, rugged utility bike. The Boxer has been designed as an “SUV on two wheels” to specifically meet their requirement."  According to reports, the vehicle costs  Rs.  43,009 – and a customer can now own a 150 cc at the price less than that of most 100cc bikes.

Renault to launch 3 new models by 2012

Renault India would be launching three new cars, including a small car, in the Indian market by 2012-end, a top company official today said.  The three launches are part of the plans of the company, which is the fully owned subsidiary of Renault s.a.s, to introduce five new cars in the market, Renault India Vice- President (Sales and Marketing) Len Curran told reporters here.  A small car would be launched this year, while in the mini SUV segment 'Duster' would be launched by May-June next year and a mid-size sedan by next year-end. By 2015, Renault is hoping to be among the top three brands, he said.  Launching the new Koleos in Kerala, Len Curran said the state was an important market as the car penetration here was the highest in the country. MINI to hit Indian roads in 2012

It's official, MINI is finally coming to India. The British premium small car manufacturer made the announcement at the Frankfurt motor show.  Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Sales and Marketing said, “We will come to India with the hatchback, convertible and Countryman range of vehicles at a very competitive price tag.” Like the global markets, India will get the second generation of the MINI, which may not look much different from the earlier car, but features better power plants as well as improved safety and comfort standards. The MINI hatch is the 21st-century version of the original Mini and will compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Beetle. Maruti Swift output reaches 500 units a day

Swift, the best selling car of Maruti Suzuki has reportedly reached 500 units even as striking workers sought the intervention of the district administration to resolve the 14-day standoff. According to reports, Maruti plans to increase Swift's production to around 18,000 units a month to help meet the delivery schedule for the 90,000 bookings for the popular car. The company have also recruited 50 more ITI-trained workers at the plant, taking the total strength of available workers to over 1,100. This will help the company to bring down its dependence on permanent workers. Shiv Kumar, general secretary of Maruti Suzuki Employees' Union was quoted as saying "We met the additional deputy commissioner and apprised him of the situation at the plant and submitted our demand to scrap any illegal administrative orders. We are willing to work but will not sign the good conduct bond."

Maruti Suzuki's third plant to be in Gujarat

Suzuki Motor has decided to locate a planned new car factory in Gujarat, western India, Kyodo news agency said on Wednesday. The firm plans to spend about 100 billion yen ($1.3 billion) on the facility, the agency said.  No one was immediately available for comment at Suzuki. The report came after Suzuki said on Monday it wanted to end its two-year alliance with Volkswagen. Suzuki had been expected to help Europe's biggest carmaker expand on the Indian subcontinent.

VW, Suzuki alliance break up

Suzuki Motor Corp on Monday said it wanted to dissolve its alliance with Germany's Volkswagen  AG, putting an end to the two-year-old cooperation. Just a day after Volkswagen alleged the Japanese company had infringed an agreement by purchasing diesel engines from Fiat for its plant in Hungary, Suzuki demanded Volkswagen offload its 19.89 per cent holding in it. The Japanese car maker will do the same with its 1.5 per cent stake in the German company. In a sternly worded press statement, the Japanese company said, "Suzuki hereby announces that its board of directors has officially determined on Monday dissolution of the comprehensive partnership and the cross-shareholding relationship with Volkswagen AG. "Suzuki thinks that it is crucial to secure independence in its operating policy decisions for maintaining its competitiveness in the domestic car market and other Asian markets, including India" The breakdown of the deal would have numerous repercussions...
