Maruti-Suzuki plans to set up third plant in India

The country's largest passenger car maker Maruti-Suzuki said that it is planning to set up its third manufacturing plant in Rothak. The new plant is said to have a capacity of 6 lakh units. Currently Maruti's Gurgaon and Manesar plant combined to have a capacity of 12 lakh units, the Rohtak plant will be spread over 600 acres, the company already has a R&D center in Rohtak.

Its seems the growing demand have forced the company to built new plant. Maruti sells more cars than any other automaker in India, In fact it also exports to European markets, even Nissan buys the A-star and Market it as 'Pixo' in several countries under its badge. Adding to that the domestic supply for some vehicles was not as expected and the company was not able to meet demand for cars such as Swift and Swift Dzire. More capacity could meet the demand and also we would see more new models from the company.
