Renault to bring a Small Car by 2014

French Automaker Renault said that it would built a B-segment car that would compete with cars like Hyundai santro, Maruthi wagon R and A-star. The car could start at a price of 3.5 lakhs and would be built in a all new platform named as (Global A), In the same platform Renault will roll out a range of small cars. The car would be heavily localized and built in its Renault-Nissan's plant in Oragadam. The car will be showcased as a concept in the New Delhi Auto expo 2014.

After the Joint-Venture broke up with Mahindra, Renault will operate individually in India without any partner. The main challenges for the company is in sales and distribution network which the company said it is planning to setup 70 dealerships by 2013-14 in their first phase.

The company will launch five new models within the next five years which includes the Fluence saloon and Koleos SUV which will be assembled as CKD(Completely Knocked Down) kits in Renault-Nissan Chennai plant. What we think is that the company may change its strategy and make it more localized because as we reported yesterday there was duty hike in the Vehicles that are bought as CKD kits and Assembled here in India.
